Live Flight Tracking Map

Watch thousands of aircraft in real time on Departra's live map. Aircraft positions are updated every 10 seconds using ADS-B data from a global network of volunteer receivers. Zoom in to see flights around any airport, or zoom out for a continental view.

The map shows real-time positions for commercial and cargo aircraft. Click any aircraft to see its flight number, altitude, speed, and aircraft type. Use the altitude legend to identify cruising aircraft (above 30,000 ft) versus aircraft on approach or climb.

ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) is the transponder technology used by modern aircraft to broadcast their GPS position, altitude, speed and heading. Thousands of aviation enthusiasts worldwide operate ground stations that receive these broadcasts and feed the data into open networks, enabling free real-time tracking with near-zero delay.

Live Map — Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find a specific flight on the map?

Use the search box on the Departra homepage to find your flight by number. You will see its exact position on a dedicated tracking page with live altitude, speed, and heading data.

Why is a flight not showing on the map?

ADS-B coverage varies by region. Some areas over oceans, polar routes, and parts of Africa and Central Asia have limited ground receiver coverage. The aircraft may also have its transponder in a mode not captured by ADS-B, or may not yet have departed.

What do the aircraft colours mean?

Aircraft are colour-coded by altitude. Blue indicates aircraft cruising above 30,000 ft, green shows aircraft between 10,000 and 30,000 ft, and yellow to red indicates lower-altitude aircraft on approach or climb.

How often does the map update?

The live map refreshes aircraft positions every 10 seconds. Each aircraft marker shows its current GPS position broadcast by its ADS-B transponder.

Can I see historical flight paths?

Click any aircraft on the map to see its complete flight path drawn from takeoff to its current position. The blue trail shows the actual route the aircraft has flown, based on live ADS-B position data. For detailed schedule information, click "Track this flight" to visit the dedicated flight page.
